The egg production sector is changing – and Europe is adapting
Natura Visio aviary system: two-tiered and ideal for low ceiling heights
The countdown is on: across the EU, egg producers are switching to alternative housing systems. While this changeover has already been largely completed in some countries – such as Germany and Austria – the transition is still ongoing in many parts of Europe. But there’s a catch: strict structural constraints in many older buildings due to low ceiling heights affect the conversion process. Big Dutchman has an answer: the two-tiered Natura Visio aviary.
With a system height of just two metres, it is often possible to incorporate an additional level: a solution that makes good economic sense.

Patented nest arrangement
Another key feature of Natura Visio is the new, patented nest arrangement, which clearly shows that the aviary has been designed with practical use and bird behaviour in mind.
The colony nest, situated in the centre of each tier, is very easy to reach for the hens, from either the left or the right. This increases nest acceptance, reduces the risk of mislaid eggs and ensures that the system runs smoothly and efficiently.
The birds take very well to the passages between the nests, guaranteeing even bird distribution throughout the house. At the same time, the central position of the nest makes it easier to move out the birds: because the nest prevents the hens from moving to the other side, they can be caught quickly and without stress, even in a 3-metre-wide aviary.
